Workshops/Lectures

Africans in the Americas

This talk or workshop explores who we were before our ancestors were brought to the Americas, the ancestral ways we used to survive in spite of slavery, and how to tap into the wisdom of our ancestral ways to thrive now.

African Cosmology

This talk explores and compares the foundation and practices of various African traditions including but not limited to Ifa, Vodun, & Kemetic systems. It posits that African traditions are not religion but the natural ways of our ancestors to communicate with nature and the cosmos.

A Poverty Simulation

This poverty simulation is an experience designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low income family trying to survive from month to month. Participants are placed into mini communities with scenarios ranging from families experiencing generational poverty to families who are educated and brand new to poverty. The ultimate goal is to feel and process the experience and allow it to motivate participants to implement strategic ways to address poverty within their communities, organizations, governments, and institutions.
